We encourage you to take advantage of services provided to reduce the number of vehicles being parked on campus. Parking Services offers Carpool and Occasional Parker permits, while Transit Services provides extensive, free bus services.
Effective July 1, 2015 hourly rates at parking meters and parking paystations across campus will increase to $1.50 per hour. Also on July 1, 2015 hourly parking rates at the Campus Center Parking Garage will increase to $1.75 per hour.
UMass Parking Services developed the current Pay-by-Cell program with the intention that this product would be an introductory or test application to see if there was demand for this type of service. We are proud to say that the program was an overwhelming success. It is so successful that there is now a need to bring in a commercial provider of Pay-by-Cell services that can supply our customers with better and more varied Pay-by-Cell options. UMass Parking Services is in the process of reviewing proposals from several commercial providers and will make a decision on the best provider for our customers in the near future. In order to facilitate the transition to this commercial provider we will need to discontinue the E-Wallet option on the UMass Pay-by-Cell product. On July 9th UMass Parking Services Pay-by-Cell E-Wallet will be turned off and customers will not be allowed to deposit money into those accounts or pay for parking with deposited money. Any remaining balances in your E-Wallet account will be refunded to you. The UMass Pay-by-Cell program WILL NOT be turned off until the new provider is in place and operating. We hope to have the new provider in place by September 1, 2015. If you do not utilize the e-wallet option in the UMass Pay-by-Cell program then you will not be affected by the e-wallet shut down. After July 9th you will only be allowed to ?pay as you go? or pay for each parking session individually which most customers do already. We hope that you are as excited as we are about taking this next step in modernizing and simplifying your parking experience here at UMass. We hope to announce a new provider shortly and will notify all Pay-by-Cell customers when that choice is made and how to sign up with them.
